My Leonard Curtis journey so far Mike Parkinson
Mike Parkinson joined Leonard Curtis in February 2012. Now a Completions Coordinator, we find out more about Mikes professional expertise and the funding team.
Can you share a key moment or turning point in your career so far?
A turning point for me was around 10 years ago when we arranged for an asset lender to come in and talk us through asset finance. I knew from that point on, asset lending was the path I wanted to go down. Over the past few years, I’ve become quite involved with most of our asset enquiries as I’ve built up relationships with many lenders and know what they do and don’t like to fund.
What has inspired you to work at LC for as long as you have?
The main reason for my working at LC as part of the funding team for the past 13 years, would have to be the people I work with. We have what I would call a family environment. It never feels like one person is less or more important than anyone else.
What’s the most valuable lesson you've learned in your career?
A deal is not completed until it’s completed! I know that sounds like anything sales related but there were many occasions in the start of my LC journey where you’d think ‘this is done and nothing can stop this from happening’ - how wrong I was! Anything can happen, even at the last minute. I’d always say, always stay close to your client and the deal and be prepared for any last-minute complications.
How does your team contribute to the wider success of LC?
With my ongoing relationship with asset finance lenders, I have been able to introduce them to the wider team and enable relationships across the LC team and the services they offer. There is always the opportunity for the other LC pillars to be involved in supporting businesses, whether it be legal or general advice.
Sum up your experience in three words…
Lots of fun
